Sadly, news reached me that two of our stalwart members of the SVPOA have died recently. Firstly, Mike Braggington died in early May. He and his wife Janette lived in Fieldend Road before they retired to Seaford in East Sussex a number of years ago. Mike worked for the Post Office throughout his life. Latterly his work involved security and efficiency. I feel sure he would have had a lot to say about the state of our current postal services! He was a member of the Executive Committee for many years and served as Chairman of the Association from 1989 to 1991.
Joan Capen also died in May. Joan played a large role in the community, not just in the SVPOA. A full obituary will follow in the next issue. We extend our condolences to Caroline and Moyra and the wider family.
