A new group, Friends of Eardley Road Sidings has been set up and have been busy tidying up the area and planting new trees. The Sidings area can be accessed from Abercairn Road / Bates Crescent. If you are interested in getting involved or just visiting, do get in touch. SVPOA Executive Committee member Geoffrey Cox said, “The Council has been putting quite a bit of energy into this in recent weeks, so it would be good to show the Council that we are grateful for this. I understand that a new officer has been appointed in charge of parks/green spaces etc. and that this is partly what has sparked this flurry of activity. I don’t know about the truth on this, but I have spoken with some Council officers at the Sidings and they seem to recognise that it will need ongoing attention to recreate and maintain the grassy meadow area again, for picnics etc.”
“We have started up a new ‘Friends of Eardley Road Sidings nature reserve’. So far, we have a WhatsApp group and a Facebook page. Would you be willing to share details with your other members, please? It would be great to see some local faces getting involved too.”
